Domaine Laurent Gauthier Morgon Vielles Vignes 2016 75cl

£18.95

Tasting Note

"A Beaujolais that is good for ageing - this Morgon is fab value for money and will be drinking well now or over the next decade plus. Bright fruit, crunchy at the moment, which will soften with the years."

Producer

Epicurean winemaker and all round bon vivant, Laurent Gauthier is the proud owner of a top class family estate which was established in Morgon in 1834. Morgon is often regarded as the powerhouse of Beaujolais winemaking simply because there’s so much of it compared to other regions. However, the very best Morgon is made in the Côte de Py where Gauthier has sizeable vineyards which boast immaculately kept old Gamay vines. Gauthier’s viticulture is deeply rooted in tradition and he is staunch advocate of natural methods of winemaking such as fining with egg whites and using little to no filtration. His wines would grace any table or occasion.
