Château La Perrière is located in the commune of Lussac. Monks established a monastery here in the Middle Ages and were the first to plant vines. The estate owes its name to an eponymous stream, which in turn takes its name from the word pierrière, meaning rock quarry. There are currently 14 hectares of vines that benefit from a well-drained clay-limestone subsoil. Jean-Luc Sylvain, a well-known cooper from Bordeaux's Right Bank, bought La Perrière in 2003 and shortly thereafter set about renovating the cellar, storage area, and vineyard. A passion We need to go back 4 generations to understand the origins of this family, which has always been fascinated by wine and wood. Jean Luc Sylvain inherited his passion from his grandfather, Pierre, who bought his first vines in 1961. From these parcels, the estate produces the “Les Grandes Versannes” Grand Cru under the Saint Emilion appellation. A know-how since 4 generations Using its family expertise and knowledge, part of the Sylvain family now works to produce wines of outstanding quality. Claire, a biology and chemistry engineer, and Rémi, a graduate of the “Ecole Superieure du Bois”, have chosen to follow in their father’s footsteps and are working for both the Cooperage and the estate. United by the same passion, Jean Luc and his children work together to make wines that reflect their image: authentic, with a wealth of unrivalled know-how.
