Trefethen Eschol Red 2019 75cl

£23.95 £29.95

Tasting Note

"If you liked the Double T of last year, you'll love this. 50% Cabernet, 44% Merlot and a smattering of Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc, this has bold fruit forward cherry notes, with modest tannins, making it exceptionally food friendly. Eschol was original name of the Trefethen estate, first planted in the 1800s, so this pays homage to those days before the Trefethen family took over. "

Trefethen Family Vineyards are exactly that - a family owned vineyard. Now in their third generation, and the second making their own wine, Trefethen are the only American winery to have only ever used estate grown fruit.

Their commitment to sustainable and ethically made wines is exemplary. When Eugene Trefethen purchased 600 acres in 1968, his aim was to grow grapes. His son John and wife Janet were the generation to start producing their own label wines in 1973 and now their children, Lorenzo and Hailey, will continue the family legacy well into the 21st century.

Located in the Oak Knoll District, they take advantage of a wide range of microclimates, allowing them to grow everything from cooler climate varieties such as Riesling and Pinot Noir and those that enjoy a bit of heat like Cabernet and Malbec.
