Domaine Jeremy Bricka Vin Orange 2019 75cl

£26.50

Tasting Note

"10.5% alcohol. No added sulfites. Chasselas. This is concentrated with some nice grainy structure and a bit of grip, but also some delicacy. Shows some green tea and spice notes as well as a touch of apple. Some wildness here, but also nice balance. Lovely freshness on the finish with a lemony tapering finish. 93/100" Jamie Goode

Producer

After working at Guigal for 8 years managing their St. Joesph and Ermitage vineyards, oenologist Jérémy Bricka felt it was time for a tree change. As a lifelong mountain lover, he moved to Trieves in the Rhône-Alpes region in 2011 and co-founded the first French whisky distillery, des Hautes Glaces. Jérémy fell in love with the region, however his success with whisky was mixed, so he decided to return to his original passion: vines. In 2015 he established Domaine Jérémy Bricka. He revived a 5ha vineyard south of Grenoble, selecting the site especially for its steep slopes, black shale soils and its potential to work with indigenous grapes. He works primarily with rare and local varieties, such as Verdesse, Persan, Estraire de l’Aduï and Douce Noire, which are well adapted to the local terroir. Farming is certified organic, helped by the site’s altitude at 500m-700m and naturally cool temperatures, which keeps disease risk low. In the winery Jérémy favours a small production and a gentle approach, using traditional techniques, neutral vessels, and low sulphur to ensure the vibrancy of the variety and terroir translate in the glass.
