De Saint Gall Brut Le Tradition 1er Cru 75cl
Tasting Note
"A wine of marvellous balance, this Champagne is a delicious blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Its appearance is an enticing golden colour and it is expressive and refined on the palate with a hint of vinosity." Decanter World Wine Awards 89pts Bronze Award
Producer
Representing over 2500 grape growers, De Saint-Gall is the brand created by Union Champagne. With exclusively 1er and Grand Cru vineyards, Union Champagne makes base wines and finished Champagnes for some of the biggest names in Champagne.
They have a wonderful redistribution of profits system, that really benefits the growers. As 70% of their business is making wines for big companies, all of the profits made from this part of the business goes to the growers. Then the remaining 30% of the business, is making De Saint-Gall and also wines for the growers. The profits from this part of the business are split 80:20 with 80% going to the growers and just twenty percent remaining at the Union.
Earning money from the 'rich' and redistributing to the 'poor'? Does this make them the Robin Hood of Champagne?
