Alsace
Sheltered by the Vogues mountains, Alsace is the driest wine producing region in France, and also tends to produce single varietal wines. Elegant, pretty and, most importantly wonderfully balanced white wines, their real stars are Riesling and Gewurztraminer, but do pay attention to their delicious Cremant sparkling wines as well. I've long loved wines from Bruno Sorg and Christophe Mittnacht but Vignoble du Reveur also make some super wines. Where are the Trimbach and Hugel wines I hear you cry - well they are everywhere else which is why I don't bother with them!
