Islands & Campbeltown

The Islands and Campbeltown - well this is easy to let you know where it is. You have the islands around Scotland (Arran, Jura, Orkney, Skye, Mull) and the Kintyre peninsula - the one that Paul McCartney and Wings sang about back in the 1970s.  There is the island of Islay as well, but we've left that out of here and seperated that off.
A majority of the island distilleries are owned by big corporations (who won't supply direct to small retailers), so we tend to focus on independent bottlings from these distilleries, but occasionally, a tasty bottle from them gets onto our list.
My favourite producers

Glen Scotia 18 Year Old 70cl
"A whiff of smoke, both pipe tobacco and peaty smoke, and then some tropical fruit, vanilla and raisins and sultanas." Founded in 1832, this distillery is on the Kintyre Peninsula and is one of three operating distilleries in this region...

Arran 1995 Bourbon Private Cask 70cl
From the first year that the Arran distillery produced whisky, this is surely going to become a wonderful collectors item, but is also a very tasty whisky. Only 172 bottles of this whisky were produced.
