Domaine de la Vougeraie
NUITS ST GEORGES, BURGUNDY, FRANCE
Leading the charge of the new wave of Burgundian producers are people like Andrew Neilsen of Le Grappin and Patrick Piuze, but another of these new names actually has an old Burgundian family behind it, the Boissets.
Domaine de la Vougeraie was created from the joining of several estates that had been bought and the Boisset family's first vineyard, which they bought in the 1960s just north of Gevrey-Chambertin.
Nathalie and Jean-Charles Boisset run the domaine, and with its first vintage in 1999, they chose the name of their parent's house, 'Vougeraie' for the domaine's name. Winemaker Pierre Vincent is developing a biodynamic approach to growing grapes, as well as trying to become more environmentally friendly using recyled materials wherever possible and using paper from sustainable forests.
