Alain Bruel moved to the region from Algeria in the 1960s, and planted vines on the sandy soils of the Carmargue that had been abandoned due to it being riddled with mines from the Second World War. The wines from these sands were well known due to their resistance to phylloxera, but the explosive possibility of the land meant that nobody was harvesting them. Alain had cleared the mines by the 1970s and started building up these 120 hectares into the estate it is today.

Now run by his daughters Brigitte and Nathalie, the estate became certified organic in 2008.
