PICPOUL DE PINET, LANGUEDOC, FRANCE
The wonderfully named Jean-Baptiste de Clock makes a fabulous Picpoul de Pinet in the Languedoc, but this isn't where his family started their lives in wine. In 1679 Dutchman Jean Clock started cultivating vines in Bordeaux, and Louis XIV naturalised him as French due to the quality of his wine.
From there the family was in wine, and it was Leon de Clock who took over 'Le Chateau Font-Mars' and now Jean-Baptiste is the owner. He has modernised the property and works with oenologist, Xavier Billet, to make the great expression of Picpoul that we stock.
This Chateau has a rather... unique aspect to its vineyards in that dinosaur eggs keep getting found in the vineyards.
