Tasting Notes

The purity and freshness of flavour is key to this wine as is the balance between the natural acidity and natural sugar. This succulent, textural, complex wine has notes of apple tart and quince jelly, which combine beautifully with pear and vanilla, leading to a delicious candied peel finish.

Producer

After 10 years of Boutinot importing wines from France back into the UK, Paul Boutinot started Boutinot France in January 1990, with the first office being in the middle of the vines in Julienas – the perfect location to navigate the regions of Beaujolais and Macon. Since then, the company has since grown and has relocated to Macon. It has over 20 employees taking care of production across the whole of France. This company uses a combination of models to source their wines, from large-scale, high-quality coops to small, family growers and single domains, as well as from their own vineyards in Cairanne and Saint-Vérand. The expertise of four winemakers, including Master Blender Samantha Bailey, and a network of partner growers is drawn on to create their wines.

This wine comes from a family team – two brothers and a son who have an abundance of experience, great vineyards and a desire to make the best from what the appellation can offer. This wine allows the winemakers to present the one-off, exciting types of wine that they make occasionally happily stumble upon.
