When Brigitte and Bruno Widmer bought the abandoned Brancaia estate in Tuscany, success came pretty rapidly. Within two years their Chianti Classico was being awarded prizes and gaining this new company, albeit built on older foundations, international acclaim.
Their daughter, Barbara, took over the winemaking in 1998 and has put a focus on quality and responsibility, refusing to use heavy, premium bottles (that many of their fellow estates use) to minimise the carbon footprint on transportation.
