Chateau Coupe-Roses
MINERVOIS, LANGUEDOC, FRANCE
With a history that dates back to the 17th century, Chateau Coupe-Roses is not a stranger to Minervois. They produce quite a fresh, lively style of wine rather than the more common overripe wines that rely on gratuitous oak usage. Part of this comes from the owner -- Francoise Frissant le Calvez -- who prefers this style, and part of it is due to the high altitude of the vineyards. Chateau Coupe-Roses owns some of the highest vineyards in Minervois which gives the wine its refreshing acidity. Cool nights and lower temperatures give these vineyards longer ripening periods, adding to the complexity of the grapes. These are delicious wines, full of earthiness and dark fruits, that offer great value for money.
