Chateau Phelan Segur
SAINT-ESTEPHE, BORDEAUX, FRANCE
A Bordeaux producer starting in Tipperary in Ireland. Not the most common story, but when Bernard O'Phelan left his home and set himself up in Bordeaux he started a journey that resulted in this well respected producer. When O'Phelan's daughter married Daniel Guestier, a Bordeaux merchant, he could now start producing his own wines.
He acquired Clos de Garramey and Segur de Cabanac in 1805 and 1810 and over the next century he and his descendants built the quality of this property. In the early 20th century, the estate took the current name.
After passing through the Delon family, in 1985 the Gardinier family took control of the company and they injected a new lease of life into the Chateau.
