Rita Marques, the winemaker at Conceito, has gathered winemaking expertise from around the world; she has been trained in the Douro, Bordeaux, California, New Zealand, and South Africa. Rita brings a level of passion and and skill to her vineyards that can be found in each wine she produces. Conceito only began selling their own wines, as opposed to selling the grapes, in 2005. This producer, filled with passion and youth, is definitely one to watch.
The vineyards have an altitude between 450 and 600 metres, giving the wines high levels of acidity, which help the ageing process. Additionally, the soil is composed of a mix of granite and schist, allowing for a unique sense of terroir to be expressed in these wines.
