A childhood friendship with the son of one of Melbourne’s premium wine merchants helped promote a burgeoning interest in wine for Tod Dexter but it took an apprenticeship with one of California’s premium family wineries, Cakebread Cellars.

In 1987 Tod and his wife Debbie moved back to Australia and brought a vineyard site on the Mornington Peninsula. The final piece fell into place when the couple visited Burgundy and fell in love with the style of wine, prompting the elegant and refined style they aim for today.
