Domaine Yann Chave
CROZES HERMITAGE, RHONE VALLEY, FRANCE
Twenty hectares of organic vineyards make up the Domaine Yann Chave today, but it wasn't always like that. In 1970, Nicole and Bernard Chave bought five hectares of vines and a lot of orchards, initially selling their grapes to a négociant, they joined the Tain l'Hermitage co-op in 1974 but four years later decided to go it alone.
They built their own cellar in the early 1980s, and after finishing his studies, Yann joined his parents and refocused the company to producing quality wines, rather than bulk. A new winery came in 2003, and organic certification came too.
A delightful producer who's Crozes Hermitage takes some beating!
