With its first vintage having been released in 2009, Herdade de Sao Miguel has been looking to make its name in the Portuguese wine-world. The head winemaker, Alexandre Relvas Jr., places a focus on indigenous grape varieties but with modern production. Relvas hopes to buck traditional trends and forges his own, modern style of Portuguese wine. The Alentejo region is characterized by its extreme diversity of microclimates and the wide selection of Herdade de Sao Miguel's wines offers a delicious, boozy tour of the region.
