Leconfield
COONAWARRA, AUSTRALIA
Founded in the early 1970s by Sidney Hamilton with the intention of producing a classic Australian Cabernet Sauvignon, it was his nephew Dr Richard Hamilton, a fifth generation grape grower, that changed the fortunes of Leconfield when he bought his uncle out of the company in 1981.
From Coonawarra, arguably the best place to plant Cabernet, Leconfield's wines are classic Aussie - they show big fruit, power and weight, but they deliver this all very well. Don't think of these wines as Mike Tyson, think of them as Ali - power and grace.
