Mitolo

McLAREN VALE, AUSTRALIA

Like all great ideas this was a business dreamt up by grocers son Frank Mitolo and young winemaker Ben Glaetzer over a 5 hour long meal. ‘Our business plan was jotted on the back of a napkin and it consisted of just six words: individuality, integrity, quality, purity, elegance and power.’

Utilising his Italian family’s connections Mitolo was able to source grapes from a family friend’s vineyard in Port Willunga in the McLaren Vale. The first wine they produced was named the 2000 G.A.M. after his children Gemma, Alex and Marco and this philosophy of family and integrity is one that still dominates their winemaking today.
