Quevedo

Half way along the riverside in Vila Nova de Gaia and up a back street is Quevedo's port bar. A funky, young, cool place where you can go and purchase tastings or select glasses of port to try. That is what we did one lunchtime in January 2024 and found one of the most fun, engaging and characterful port producers in the Douro.

With a history going back five generations, and proudly from the Douro Valley, the company is now run by Claudia and Oscar Quevedo making exquisite tawnies, as well as top notch aged white ports, on top of their lovely reds. Before 1986, because they were in the Douro and not Porto, they couldn't release their own wines, but in 1993 they launched Quevedo and while they have been a bit under the radar in the UK, we are hoping to change that.
