Vieux Chateau Certan
POMEROL, BORDEAUX, FRANCE
Covering 14 hectares in one block, the Vieux Chateau Certan vineyard is located in the heart of the Pomerol plateau. With a mix of 65% Merlot, 30 % Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, the vineyard allows the winemaker to create a perfect balance each year.
Being next to Chateau Petrus does mean that the wines have always been overshadowed since 1875, but before then, the estate was considered the best in Pomerol. Bought by Belgian wine merchant Georges Thienpont in 1924 it is still within his family under the control of Alexandre.
