Domaine Chignard Fleurie 'Les Moriers' 2020 75cl

£23.50 GBP

Tasting Note

Quite a dark looking Gamay, some sweetened, intense cherry and herbal lozenge coming off the nose. Then a lighter almond and raspberry emerges - a bit like a concentrated Bakewell tart! The palate has a richer start, really mouthfilling with some darker earthier elements to it, a little grip of tannin, and then a wonderful cherry, dark raspberry and earth flavour. Such a serious Beaujolais - I love it.

Producer

Domaine Chignard was founded by Michel Chignard and now run by his son Cedric. They have 8 hectares of old vines in Fleurie, situated on the top of the hill sloping down to Moulin-a-Vent on pure granitic soils. Cedric makes serious wines, very traditional with a high proportion of whole bunch, they are complex, but with a wonderful aromatic quality and superb precision and finesse.
