Tasting Note: One of the top 100 wines of the year for 2022 accoriding to Decanter Magazine. The judges noted shiitake mushrooms and smokey tertiary characteristics, making this wine great on its own or with food. It is not as light in body as other Vernatsch due to a combination of 100 year old vines, a scrupulous selection of grapes and its treatment in the cellar. 95pts

James Suckling:  Apart from its self-confidently dry finish, this vernatsch does a good impression of a well-crafted pinot noir. Subtle red-berry and wild-herb character and a sleek, well-structured body makes this a striking red that’s light years’ removed from international norms. So invigorating! Intense dried-herb character at the long, clean finish. Drink or hold.

 Producer: Cantina Girlan was founded in 1923 in an ancient farmstead from the 16th century. Back then, 23 winegrowers laid the foundation stones of what was later to become the winery we see today. Today, about 200 greatly committed and motivated winegrowers and their families farm an area covering about 220 hectares of vineyards.
