Latta Rattlesnake Riesling Viognier (with some other bits) 2021 75cl
Tasting Note
In the words of George Takei "Oh my!". This is a brilliant white wine - the limey bits from the Riesling mixed with the stonier fruit/pear drop bits from the Viognier produce a wine that is just a fabulous. Then, just to mess with you a little, he throws in Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer - making it wonderfully aromatic. THEN he makes the Sauvignon have some skin contact, giving it a textural and phenolic note. Are you familiar with the phrase "a mind f....."?
Producer
Owen Latta did his first harvest with his father at the age of fifteen at his parent's winery, Eastern Peak. Now he is in charge of that and also Latta Wines - his personal project of innovation and expression of fun. The wines are very hands off winemaking, and are outstanding quality, showing that Owen is one of the finest (and fun-est) young winemakers.
