Max Ferdinand Richter Mulheimer Sonnenlay Zeppelin Riesling 2020 75cl

£14.50

Tasting Note

An old favourite of mine made by Dirk Richter, with lovely lime sherbet aromas, clean zingy citrus on the palate with a lovely bright acidity. The wine from this vineyard used to be served on the Zeppelins, hence the label.

Producer

Winemakers at Richter believe that great wine comes from the vineyard rather than the cellar, and while keeping this in mind, they strive for precision in their daily viticultural work. The vines are cultivated on the steep, slate slopes of Mosel but this is overcome by meticulous handwork, small crop sizes, all-natural fertilizers and sustainable farming practices, as well as all harvesting being done by hand.

The estate was founded in 1680 as a wine export company and the estate of Max Ferdinand Richter is still owned by the same family that first purchased the vineyards in Brauneberg in 1643. The estate is managed and operated by Dr. Dirk Max Ferd. Richter, the ninth generation of his family to do so, and Constantin Max Ferd. Richter, the tenth generation, also works at the estate, keeping the strong family tradition.
