Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs 2018 75cl
Tasting Note: A bright golden colour with a delicate mousse, our Blanc De Blancs has classic Chardonnay aromas of green apple, citrus and mineral notes combined with buttered toast and Tarte Tatin richness from extended lees ageing.
Producer: Founded by Andrew Weeber in 2004, Gusbourne is based in Kent in a place called Appledore. Oz Clarke refers to it as a "piece of Kent where few people live, few people visit, where the mists linger late into morning and the sodden soil squirts and squelches underneath your boots". Note exactly good growing conditions for vines. However, the sun always shines there, it is warm and where Gusbourne is situated, is full of hard, compacted sandy clay which gives the drought conditions so much needed for sparkling wine. They also use Burgundy clones in their best areas, which are able to stay on the vines to ripen. It all contributes to Gusbourne being one of the best sparkling wine producers in England.
