Westcott Estate Pinot Noir 2016 75cl

£24.95

Tasting Note

If you are wanting Burgundian Pinot Noir and don't want to pay a fortune for it, venture over the Atlantic to Canada with this brilliant wine. In the same flavour profile as Volnay or Pommard, it is superb and such good value for money.

"Earth, woodsy and smoky, this delightfully rich wine is a revelation. The oak is muted encouraging fresh fruit flavors of blackberry, violet, sweet spice and black licorice to tantalize the palette, while pleasant tannins and bright accents of vanilla, toast and dark berries ensure things finish on a high note."

Producer

Following their global careers in banking and tech, instead of retiring Grant Westcott and Carolyn Hurst decided to combine their passions (Carolyn being a passionate oenophile and Grant being a former cattle farmer) and purchase a vineyard.

They initially thought they would grow the grapes to sell them to other wineries, with a vision of the type of wine they would like to help to create but as time went on, they realised that they wanted to produce their own wine under their own Westcott Vineyards label. Their first vintage was in 2012 and then they continued their study of cool climate viticulture. Their son, Garett joined them in the vineyard the next year.

They continued developments on the property, and in July 2014 the tasting room was opened, at the same time as their daughter, Victoria, joined the tead, leading the customer experience.

In 2018 they bought Butler's Grant Vineyards to expand their portfolio to include Riesling and Cabernet Franc. They strive to improve every year, constantly growing and listening to the earth, the grapes and their customer.
