I once went out to Rui Madeira's estate and had a fabulous tour around his remote vineyards in the Douro. Beyra wines are made from the grapes grown in some of the highest vineyards in Portugal, and this shows with a cooler freshness in the wines. Rui was brought up in the Douro Superior and after going around the world, he went back home and started making wines. He has been there for over 20 years and really pays attention to his vineyards, knowing that by doing so makes his wines better.
