BLANKbottle
VARIOUS AREAS, SOUTH AFRICA
Art - noun the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.
Well by that definition, wine is art and just to reiterate the point, Pieter Walser puts fabulous artwork on the labels or his wines. Ironically though, his description of BLANKbottle is 'clothes maketh not the man; judge my wines on what's in the bottle, not on the label'.
He travels and experiences different areas of South Africa and makes wines from the grapes he finds. He does repeat certain wines each year from the vineyards he grows particularly attached to, but he is always trying new things. Harvesting 55 tons of grapes from 47 vineyards, he drove 8,000 miles in 100 days to pick his grapes... (nobody mention the words carbon and footprint).
