Champagne Tarlant
OEUILLY, CHAMPAGNE, FRANCE
Benoit Tarlant is the latest in a line of family members who have cultivated vines. In 1687 Pierre Tarlant, was the first generation to do this, and a century later Louis Tarlant and his wife Marie-Madeleine moved to Oeuilly in the Marne. This inheritance went down through the family and in the early 20th century, Louis Adrient Tarlant was instrumental in the 'Champagne Revolution' where the rules of the AOC were defined.
It was between the wars that the first Cuvee Tarlant was created, and has grown ever since. Benoit joined the business in the early part of this century after visiting many different winegrowing regions to see how wine was made elsewhere. He brings this knowledge and the traditions of his family's estate together and with the 14 hectares of vineyards, which are farmed following sustainable organic practices, is ensuring the survival of this family company for the next generations.
