Charles Smith Wines
WALLA WALLA, WASHINGTON STATE, USA
What can be said about Charles Smith? Actually, from some of the stories I've heard, it might be best to just go with his official biography! Suffice to say, the tales were colourful....
A native of Sacramento, Smith followed a girl to Europe where he managed rock bands including the Danish duo The Ravonettes. He moved back the the Pacific North West in 1999 and within two years was making his own wines in Walla Walla.
A dream gave him the idea for his most famous wine - House Wine. Realising nobody had trademarked the concept, he built this brand before selling it and using the procedes to establish Charles Smith Wines.
The concept of this new company was to make wines that were supposed to be drunk immediately, but still taste like the grapes and the places the grapes are grown.
