Domaine Maume
GEVREY CHAMBERTIN, BURGUNDY, FRANCE
This Domaine faced as severe a threat to it’s quality in 2011 when the Maume family extracted their equity from the Domaine. Thankfully for the battle for quality and great taste Bertrand Maime has remained with the Domaine as has his number two, Bernard Zito. This means that the lute raisonee and biodynamic approach remains as does the fantastic and consistent quality.
This tiny Domaine is a very traditional producer. Old vines, a lot over half a century old, bottled without any fining or filtering after spending between a year and a half and two years in older barrels, I've liked these wines for a number of years and am pleased to be stocking them.
