Eugenio Bocchino
PIEDMONT, ITALY
Starting with an inherited vineyard in 1996, Cinzia and Eugenio made a tiny 225 litres of wine in their first vintage. But from small things do great things grow, and they were encouraged to plant more vines and now have five and a half hectares. They have practiced biodynamics since the start, which means that they have livestock and other crops as well to work, and they also only use indigenous yeasts, no filtration or fining, and no new oak.
The result is elegant wine that are very approachable with silky tannins and are very restrained, not the big powerful wines you would get from Castiglione Faletto or Serralunga d'Alba. This makes them very drinkable when young.
