Fruitiere Vinicole Arbois
JURA, FRANCE
There are no co-operatives in the Jura, they call them Fruitieres, but despite this, the Arbois Fruitiere claims to be the oldest in France! The members have worked tirelessly to protect the name of Arbois, and thirty years after it's foundation in 1906, the region became one of the first new appellations to be created.
There are 100 members of the Frutiere, with approximately 300 hectares of vines, resulting in about a third of the AOC's production. Of these members, most are small holders with only twenty being making wine full time.
