Although known for their bold, intense Rhone varietals, Magpie Estate's range includes several intriguing wines, such as their sparkling Shiraz or 'The Mixed Thing,' which is a blend of whichever grapes are ripe on the day of the harvest. Founded in 1983, the owners, Noel Young and Ralph Binder, focused on highlighting the potential for Grenache, Shiraz, and Mouvedre in the Barossa. Despite their success, Noel and Ralph don't take themselves too seriously. Most of their wines are named after classic, cult movies and feature chuckle-worthy artwork, such as the label for the Tight Cluster. They believe wine is meant to be enjoyed, and having fun is a large part of that.
