New York State Wines
So you'll be familiar with wines from the west coast of America, but wines from the east aren't as common here in the UK. New York State is an area that has the ability to produce some exquisite wines in varying styles.
Take Long Island for example.. This has a sandy soil, with a temperate climate, which makes it a perfect environment for Bordeaux blends (called Meritage for some unknown reason in America). this region has over 2000 acres under vine, with sixty six wineries and it's maritime influence also permits the growing of excellent Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer and Riesling.
Then there is the Finger Lakes. Nearly five times the number of acres, with double the wineries, the region is great for sparkling wines, Riesling, Pinot Noir and dessert wines.
I've assembled a small range of wines from this state that I hope you like.
