Winemaker Chris Williams did his apprenticeship under Georgio dalla Cia at Meerlust and under Michel Rolland in Pomerol.  It was whilst working as a consultant that he came up with the idea for The Foundry with his friend James over a kitchen table, and part of his agreement when he returned to Meerlust as cellarmaster, was that he could continue with this new project and use the facilities!

Being awarded five Platter stars for their first vintage was a pretty good start, and even though their fruit sources have varied over the years, this is only a good thing as Chris always make sure he does the best with what is available.

I've been trying these wines for years and love what they are doing, my particular favourite being the Roussanne.
