Vieux Chateau Certan

One of the oldest properties in Bordeaux, Vieux Chateau Certain was founded by Jean Demay Certan in the mid 1700’s. Unfortunately the prestigious family run ended incredibly quickly with the advent of the French Revolution. After a run of owners the estate was purchased by Belgian merchant Georges Thienpont.

While he mostly sold the wine through his Dutch company stunting its world reputation, Georges is famous for adding the pink cap reportedly so he could easily identify his wine in friends cellars. Not until the 1980’s did this wine become internationally rising instantly to be a force to reckon with.
