Vivanco
RIOJA, SPAIN
Four generations of the Vivanco family have been in the world of wine. Starting with Pedro Vivanco Gonzalez, who made wines from a small family vineyard, through Santiago and then his son Pedro Vivanco Paracuellos. It was Pedro that really started the ball rolling that became Vivanco. He travelled the world, collecting objects relating to wine. He returned to Rioja, bought some more vineyards and then started making wine. Now, Pedro's son, Rafael Vivanco Saenz is the winemaker at this unique winery.
Aside from the vines and the winery, Vivanco has a museum of Wine Culture, celebrating the 8000 year history of man and the vine. Outside the museum is the 'Garden of Bacchus' which has over 220 grapes from all around the world.
