MOULIS, BORDEAUX, FRANCE

Although it is classified as a Cru Bourgouis, Chateau Chasse-Spleen regularly outperforms some of the renowned classed growths. Now run by Claire Villars, the Chateau has vineyards on a variety of different plots, ranging from deep gravel to clay-limestone.

Not only does this chateau have a curious name, it has an interesting take on what a chateau should be. The owners have incorporated a rotating gallery of emerging artists' work on their grounds. Chasse-Spleen does not feel bound to the past as some of the more nostalgic chateaux do; they are forward-thinking and innovative.
